Today I spent a large amount of time out of the house. Once again I wear no underwear under my pants. Today I went over to one of the friend’s house and played card games and ate pizza. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pizza due to my new healthy life-style. You see there is a whole other person in me when I’m just out and about. I play card games like Uno and Speed. After spending a few hours I head home to get ready for the gym
My Master has instructed me that I must workout every two days. So once I get home I go to the gym a run. All is well while I run, but once I have finished my throat starts to sound wheezy as I try to breath. My face goes numb, my eyes get extremely watery, and my nose starts to run. I quickly make my way to the bathroom to examine what is happening to me. After a few minutes of trying to blow my nose, my arms begin to itch. I start to see little lumps all over my forearms. Hives. I am having an allergic reaction. Not entirely sure what caused the reaction I try to compose myself and start the 3 minute walk home.
Once I get home I turn on the shower hopping that the reaction settles down. But no. As a begin to strip layers of clothes I start to more lumps on my hips, collarbone, and legs. This is bad. But I keep composure even though my face is completely swollen. I causally knock on my roommate’s door asking her to call someone.
The campus police show up moments later. Again I am perfectly calm because I know exactly what is wrong (only because I watch doctor shows faithfully). The cop puts me in the back of the cop car as she examines me, I guess to make sure it’s not some prank. As I sit there I start to think, I could be dying. My airway has been slightly open for the past 20min and you are sitting her asking when was the last time I ate. I inform her that it is an allergic reaction. So when the ambulance arrives, again I very causally explain that I must be allergic to working out, because it wasn’t till after my run that all the symptoms started. The man then checks my heart rate, temperature, breathing. He then says that they are going to transport me to the hospital so I can receive antibiotics to reverse the reaction. By this time my nose has stopped running, but my arms were still itching and my ears began to burn. “How much is the ride?” The two EMTs look at one another as if no one as ever asked that question. The respond cautiously that its “quite a bit.” I then as for a specific price, but once again they give me a very broad answer. I then thank them for their time and let them know that I will be having my roommate drive me to the emergency room.
After the billing paperwork is filled out for checking my vitals in the ambulance ($75), I step out, thank the EMTs for their help, and head straight for the emergency room. As we wait in the waiting room my breathing returns back to normal and my eyes are no longer red. I start to crack jokes about how I must be allergic to working out. Which is highly unlikely because I worked out before I went to the campus gym. 30 minutes later, I was seen by a nice nurse who stuck an IV in my to rid of the, now minor, symptoms. It’s now 12am. I’m tired and I just want to go to bed. They prescribe me with an EPY pen just in case it happens again. As to what caused my allergic reaction… well no one could figure it out. How quickly a simple run turned into this whole complex situation.
